Some lefe seems to be coming back to 2012 NJ SRECs

2011 SRECs enjoyed stable prices around $650.
2012 prices collapsed to around $160 since the recent monthly rate of growth of PV systems suggested there would be a glut well above the required SREC availability for utilities to buy and comply with the requirement.

But generators are holding their SRECs back and the prices have now crossed $200. I am sure many future solar installations in the pipeline will be cancelled due to severe loss of economic value perhaps helping to stabilize the SREC pricing.

I have a newly minted one SREC, but I am not going to sell it current low price. I will hold on to it and decide later. I am hoping there will be reduced future installations and also some legislative changes which may restore the prices...

SREC Prices are collapsing!

I had been able to sell SRECs until now for over $650. Now suddenly I see prices are like $155.
You can check SREC prices at websites such as

Apparently this has happened due to potential for oversupply for 2012 SRECs (June 1, 2011 thru May 31, 2012 SRECs are called 2012 SRECs).

See the following webpages for more information.
There is a bill New Jersey State Senate recently passed S2371, intended to help stabilize the NJ SREC market. The bill has yet to move to the State Assembly and the Governor’s desk, but if passed, it would move the SREC compliance requirements forward one year, with RY2014 SREC requirements replacing those in place for RY2013.
